Bangladesh has attracted about 15 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) between 1996 to 2014. More than 95% of the FDI was in 4 sectors. More than two thirds of all investment came from the top 10 investor countries including UK, USA, S. Korea, Netherlands, Singapore and Hong Kong. For last few years the country has been receiving more than a billion USD in FDI, with the highest amount received in 2014. Despite the global trend of FDI dropping, Bangladesh experienced 13% FDI growth in 2012. The investment portfolio has also changed over time. From being dominated by the power sector, the investment portfolio gradually transformed into a manufacturing dominated one.
